My journey with metal has been a liflong endeavor. From early on I could fabricate nearly anything from an array of materials. I eventually made metal work my trade working in shops in Colorado, Wyoming and Oregon. It was during that time I decided to use my fascination with geometry, form and function to create some pieces that were purely for enjoyment, not just practical pieces.
My background in metal fabrication has allowed me to combine different materials, shapes, and patinas to create the sculptures that define my world. All of my work begins with flat sheet metal that must be cut to shape, formed, welded, ground, and finished with a patina and sealer. It sounds much simpler than it is. I also like to combine a molding and casting process that I have developed over the years with my metal work, generating a mixed media form of sculpture. The casting allows me to marry the contemporary hard geometric lines and shapes with the soft curves and fluid lines often found in nature. Although I like working with all of the materials, I have become very partial to working with copper due to its organic feel and large range of possible patinas.

My hope is to continue to formulate sculptures that resist conformity and are distinctively striking. The appreciation and recognition of my art motivates me to continue to experiment and devise these sculptural pieces that are unconventional in nature.
